Snow day!

Holly had to take Olivia to the doctor.  So I got to play with Lily and Jack.  They brought all their snow gear.  We had a blast!  We went sledding, made snow angels, snow men and even played hide and seek.

Birthdays and snow

Sunday night we celebrated birthdays - Dad -79, Colby - 8 and Ryan - 5.  Three adorable guys!

The little boys were entralled with the Cars theme of Ryan's cake.

Saturday Dave and I drove up to Brigham City.  The new temple is looking so nice.  I can't wait until it is finished later this year.

We had our first significant snowstorm since November last night.  We could hear the snowplows all night long.  But this morning the snow turned into rain, so that is nice.  (Why do the snow plows always pile up snow against our mailbox?)

We got about 6 inches.  Funny thing - down at the bottom of the hill from us they just got a skiff of snow, and Salt Lake didn't get any.  As long as the roads are clear so I can drive easily I won't complain.  Last night I had to go to a work meeting right in the thick of the storm.  Cars were pulled off all over because they couldn't make it back up the hill.  Luckily I had the truck with 4 wheel drive.

Playdough. cookie cutters and a tent

Holly had to go get recertified in CPR so I watched her kids the other day.  Lily suggested we make playdough.  She evenhelped me mix it up.  Then out came my gazillion cookie cutters and they were entertained for a long time.

When the playdough lost its allure I hauled out the little tent I have had for years.  I like it because it folds flat for easy storage.  I get it out a couple of times a year and the kids had a blast in it.

Livie liked it best.

I've got a little "love shack" look goin' on with my Valentine decorations.  But it brightens up the dreary winter days.

Vegas

I tagged along with Dave on his business trip to Vegas last week.  I mainly wanted to go because I was in need of some warm weather.  It did not disappoint.

We ate at this Irish Pub.  The food was great.  We also ate at Maggiano's (my favorite Chicago Italian restaurant) and a pretty good sushi place.

We stayed at the junkiest place on the strip, The Luxor Hotel.  But hey, Dave's work paid for it so I guess I "shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth."

Dave sipping a Caffeine-free diet cherry coke at the Coca Cola Store.

I sat on a chair out in the pool area where there were geraniums in bloom.  Beats the heck out of the snow back home.

Thankfully we aren't gamblers, so the only money spent was on my food , cheap airfare, and a little bit of money spent in the malls there.   (Seriously I got some great deals on a few Winter Clearance items and that's all)  We had a nice little break in the sun and  I'm glad Dave let me tag along!

New Year's Eve

We were all kind of a bunch of duds this year.  Although we ate and played games for awhile it didn't last long.  We had the kids go out on the porch and bang pots, yell "Happy New Year",  and pull poppers several hours before the actual event.  Everyone had colds.  So Holly's family left about 8 and Ashley's at 9 or so.  Dave and I were in bed before midnight, although we did hear the neighbor's fireworks going off as the new year rolled in.  Happy New Year!

Now it's time to compile all my posts from 2011 and get another blog book printed. Yay!
