A running friend/pinterest party

We got together for a family night with my running friends and their families this past Monday evening.  We had them over to our house.  There were five Pinterest inspired items there that night.

Louise, an engineer by profession, (left) made this awesome palm tree fruit platter she found on Pinterest. (The trunk is four stacked pineapples, hollowed out) Cool!   We also had two Pinterest desserts - Rollo Brownie Bites and Coconut Cream Cake.  There was also an amazing Pinterest salad - Strawberry Cheesecake salad.  Yumminess, for sure!

And, you can kind of see my dumpy old metal folding chairs that I refurbished with spray paint, thanks to good ol' Pinterest inspiration.

Olivia knows you go down a slide much better with a binkie in your mouth.

The four of us - Jodi, Louise, Wendy and me - have spent hundreds of hours together running over the years.  We usually log around 20 plus miles a week.  We've been running as a group for about six years now, mostly in the dark at 5:30 am.  It's nice to see each other looking like real people, complete with makeup and not all sweaty, every now and again.

Logan turns three

Our adorable Logie just turned three this week.

Ashley had a little party for him at their house the night before his birthday.  He is wearing a super hero cape that Ash made out of an old t-shirt.  Here he is with cousins Garrett and Olivia.  Logan told me, "Gwandma, do you know Gewut it my best fwend and my best cousin?"

The day of his birthday I got to babysit him while Ashley and James were at the dentist.  We had so much fun.  He had me push him in the swing.

Then we made sand castles.  Then we watched "Ruby and Max" on Netflix.  This all took place in about an hour or so.  Three year olds like to move from one activity to the next in a very short space of time, haha.

The next day I went with Ash and the boys to the dollar movie.  We got the jumbo container of popcorn because you get free refills, of course.

That night Dave and I took Logan on his birthday date.  Alex tagged along.  We went to Warrens.  If you have never had their Halibut Fish and Chips I highly suggest it.  Alex got Funnel Cake fries with his burger.  Yum.

Logan chose the Corn Dog Kids Meal.  The picture is blurry because he pretty much jumped up and down in the booth the entire time he was eating.  What a nut!

Then we took him to the store to pick out his present.  He chose a remote control Finn McMissle. (From the Cars 2 movie)

Happy Birthday to a very fun and energetic 3 year old!

Father's Day 2012

Lemon blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup, eggs with ham and fresh mushrooms, and a bowl of fresh fruit.  Dave's Father's Day breakfast.

After church we went over to Ashley and Jud's for Father's Day dinner.   Dave and Logan jumped on the trampoline while waiting for dinner to begin.

The fathers in attendance:

Logan and Liv enjoy the homemade raspberrry ice cream and homemade waffle cone bowls.

We stopped over at Dave's dad's house and watched him open his present.  Dena had put together a book of the Alaska trip he took us all on last year.  He loves it!

Then we went out to visit my dad.  I brought my camera, but forgot to get a picture.

Out-takes and Bloopers

What started as a warm embrace quickly turned into a head-lock:

Oh,  these kids!

The Train Station

We took the kids to the train station for some photos.  Ashley took over 250 pictures and it was narrowed down to these as being my favorites.  Getting five kids to even look in the same direction was a HUGE challenge.  And if you are looking for five children who sit quietly with their hands in their laps - "these ain't them!"

Olivia turns two!

Dave and I started a new grandkid birthday tradition this year.  We take each grandchild to dinner with just us on their birthday.  Livie was the first birthday in 2012.  We actually took her the night before and since she really can't eat much at most restaurants ,because of her allergies,we took her McDonalds for ice cream.  Holly had already fed her.  (We stole this entire idea from Art and Pegge Stowers.  But I am sooo excited to establish this tradition with all of the grandkidlets!)

This look totally cracks me up.

The next evening, for her actual birthday, we went to her house to celebrate with her fam.  This is the beautiful birthday girl!

Jack helps her blow out the candles.

Yay for grandchildren.  They make life so rich and rewarding.

Kindergarten graduation and gymnastics

Lily is officially a Kindergarten graduate now.

She is also a great little gymnast.

Olivia likes getting "bottom bumps" from her Grandpa.
