Coming Home

There was quite a crew waiting at the airport to see Elder Roo in Salt Lake City.  Since it was Halloween the kids were in their costumes.  Olivia was only a few months old when Andrew left so she didn't remember him at all, though she had been praying for him for most of her two year life span.  She went right to him and cuddled.

Logan was too little to remember him when he left, too.  But he chatted away like he had always known Uncle Roo.

James and Jack were busy being Darth Vader.

Lily probably remembered Andrew the best out of the little kids.

Andrew got to see Bryson, Heidi and Heidi's little guy, Max.

Three of his best friends from high school came, too.  Andrew was the last of his group of friends to return from his mission. Jordan served in Armenia, Matt in Mozambique and Dallin in Mexico.

Elder Clafflin and Elder Kim Sion from Andrew's mission also came to the airport.

He loved seeing Grandpa and Grandma Niederhauser.

Then we went to Cafe Rio.  There wasn't much in the way of Mexican food in Korea so Andrew was really enjoying it.

Uncle Spencer was so good to Roo.  He brought him a money lei, gifts, and had posters for people to hold at the airport.  It was really nice of him and it meant a lot to Andrew.

It's not a true welcome home without the Kirt's sign in North Ogden. (Thanks Jud and Ash!)

Andrew couldn't wait to see his Grandpa Grose, so we stopped there before going home.

When we arrived at our house trick or treating was in full swing.  Luckily I had bought plenty of candy before we left on our trip.  They came to our door in groups of ten or more at a time.  But we loved it most when the Stowers and Masons showed up!

More of Andrew's friends showed up as we all waited for the Stake President to come and release him.

When President Keller finally arrived at about 9:45 pm he was dressed as Justin Beiber.  I wish I would have taken a picture.  It would have been nice to have a little blackmail item so I don't ever have to speak in Stake Conference, haha! 

Yes, it's good to have our little boy back home.

Korea Trip 2012 - Part 9

Our last day in Jeju we explored more of the island.  The island is famous for these stone statues.

I loved how many of the women's restrooms on the island had a cartoon of the famous diving women.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this "family stall" in the women's restroom.  A big toilet/bidet for mom and a small one for her child.

Andrew says this is the only waterfall in Asia that empties into the ocean.

More Korean Grandmas selling stuff.  These may have been divers, too.  They were selling abalone, oysters, etc. right along the shore.

I liked seeing these horses grazing next to the ocean.  Then Andrew told me Jeju is the only place in Korea where they eat horse meat.  Sad.

Our last snack in Jeju before flying back to Seoul was this Dragon Bread.  It really is shaped like a dragon and is filled with custard and peanuts.  Yum.

We flew back to Seoul arriving around midnight (again).  We slept for a few hours and then took the train back to the airport to fly home.  What a touching trip it was to see where both Alex and Andrew spent two years of their lives, teaching the gospel in this wonderful, very unique country.  Dave and I both commented that international travel is getting harder in our old age.  We were wiped out after the frantic pace we kept for those 11 days.  But we both agreed it was extremely worth it!
