Mirror Lake

It's not very often we get a three day weekend.  But for the 24th of July weekend we went camping for three days at Mirror Lake.  Ashley, Jud and their kids came too and we shared a double trailer site.

Mirror Lake has a trail that goes around the entire perimeter.

The wildflowers were out in full force.

The first evening, after our tin foil dinners, we made "camp cones" an idea Ashley and I had seen on Pinterest.  They were pretty good.  James and Logan enjoyed theirs.

Early the next morning, while the Mason's were still asleep, Dave and I took the kayaks out on the lake for some excellent fishing.

Brigham would start out the mornings nice and clean.  By evening we could barely make out that it was him under the layers of dirt, haha.  Luckily, Ashley could give him a bath in their trailer each night.

Dave and I went on our annual hike up Bald Mountain with its killer views.

We counted 30 lakes that we could see from the summit.

Ash and Jud get lots of stares when they go on bike rides around the campground.

We went on a hike with their family to Bonny Lake.

I love this picture of their family.

That evening we went out on the kayaks again.  You can see from this picture why it is called "Mirror Lake".

We paddled until the sun set.  This is the entire Mason fam enjoying the evening.

We tried another Pinterest camping item:  banana boats. They were delish.

We went out fishing in the kayaks early the next morning.

There is a fish in that net.

We sure had a great time and want to do it again next year.

The Rodeo

We spent Family Night on Monday at the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo.  Dave and I have both been coming to this since we were kids.  Roo and Megs drove down from Logan to come sit with us.

I think I enjoy the skydivers as much as I do the actual cowboy stuff.

Sometimes it can get pretty hot sitting in the grandstands.  But this time it wasn't too bad.  Thanks to Jud for getting us tickets to this event!

Anderson Cove

We pulled our trailer up Ogden Canyon to the Anderson Cove Campground at Pineview Reservoir.  Ashley and Jud pulled their trailer up there, too.  We stayed in a double campsite.  We brought Lily, Jack and Livie with us.  Holly and Cody stayed home that first night because Mitt isn't the greatest at sleepovers, yet.

Our camping spot was nice and shady.

And we had this view.  Where the grass ends, there is a little trail down to the beach.

The kids enjoyed play dough for awhile.

But they were chomping at the bit to go down to the beach.

Liv was jumping for joy.

We told them not to get wet.

The next day was a beach day!

We brought our kayaks and everyone had a great time with them.

Grandpa and Mitt doing a little bonding in the shade.

So around 3 pm we were all kind of sick of the sun.  We headed back to the trailers.  Within minutes of leaving the beach a fisherman pulled a dead body out of the water right on the beach where we had been.  I'm glad we had already left so the kids didn't see it.  They had the sheriff, news trucks, etc. converge on the scene shortly afterwards.

But we had a great little weekend and made some great memories.
