Dinosaur Park 2012

Carrie called me last night and invited us to come to the Dinosaur Park with them.  Debbie and her kids, Nana, Billy, Ash and her boys came too.  Holly and Lily couldn't come but I brought Jack and Olivia with us.

We all brought our lunch and ate next to the playground there.

Jack, Logan and Olivia were all sitting on the dinosaur and right when I snapped the picture Logan and Liv fell off.  They cried because they were scared but at least they didn't get hurt.  Just looking at their tangled up legs at the bottom of the picture makes me laugh.

They have the park all decked out for halloween.  The kids all thougth this clown was funny.

Olivia played so hard she fell asleep the minute we got in Ashley's van to go home.

Lily's 7th Birthday

Our oldest granddaughter is turning seven this week.  Wow, what a great kid she is!  Dave and I took her on her birthday date tonight.  She requested Chinese Food.  (Thanks, Lils!)  She is a huge fan of egg drop soup.  She had two bowls of it along with her sweet and sour chicken.

She was determined to use chop sticks.  It helps if you scrunch up your face while picking up rice with them.

 Afterwards we took her shopping and she picked out a bed and outfit for the new doll her parents gave her, which she has named McKenna.

Grandparenthood is rewarding beyond belief!

A 90th Birthday

Dave's dad turned ninety years old this week.  What an amazing man.  We all love him so.

Dave's dad loved seeing family and friends.  I am sad we never did get a group picture with all of the family.  So many traveled so far to come.  I'm pretty sure there will never be that many of them all gathered together again.

I just picked these this morning.  I know a hard frost is coming, but until then I will enjoy these last little reminders of summer.

Crimson Trail Time

Last weekend it was time for our annual camping trip to Logan Canyon.  We always go the night before General Conference. 

Two of our besties, Stephanie and Scott Bauer, rode up to Logan with us that night.  We ate dinner at the Firehouse, one of our faves.  Then they got their daughter Kaylee's car and followed us up the canyon to our campsite at Guinavah in Logan Canyon.  We all sat in the trailer and chatted that night and had hot apple cider, Starbuck's style.  Then they drove back home.  Dave and I watched a couple of Seinfeld episodes before hitting the sack.

The next morning was frrrrreezing.  But we bundled up and headed out on our hikes.

I can't look at this picture without laughing.  What a nerd.  I am bundled up to the gills - a fleece vest, coat, hat and lovely red mittens.  And I was still cold.

Note to self:  stop when taking a photo and it won't be blurry.

Smack dab in the center of this photo is a wild turkey we saw sitting on the edge of the trail.

After the hikes, General Conference was just beginning.  We listened to it while making and eating a breakfast of cinnamon rolls, eggs and sausage.  Oh and hot chocolate to warm up our bones.

We had a flat tire when we got back from the hike.  So before leaving, Dave borrowed a fellow camper's bicycle pump and pumped it up and we quickly drove down the canyon to Discount Tires in Logan to get a new tire.

We listened to the second session of conference in our truck while waiting at the tire joint.  It was a memorable little camping trip!
