Can I tell you how much I loved my hike with my two favorite sons?

Brigs and Mitt
Spent one morning babysitting Brigham. We ate fish crackers and watched Curious George.
Then, later that day, I babysat Mitt. We watched truck videos on my ipad.
I adore these little grandsons! Feeling blessed to be their grandma.
Random
The entire Vaterlaus fam participated in The Dirty Dash race. Way to go, guys!
Halloween is the first holiday I can decorate for, since moving into our new house.
Yay for dollar store bats hung from fishing line. That's about as creepy as I like to get. Not much into super scary stuff.
I go more for "cute". Like, with the new pillows I made for the bench, haha.
A little hike
Dave and I decided to explore one of the trails up behind our house.
I'm guessing teenagers use this spot.
Our neighborhood from above
And- this wins the prize as the most graffiti on a retention pond. Yuk.
Conference time
General Conference included our usual activities: crepes
listening to our prophet and other church leaders,
and spending time with the fam.
Some of my very favorite things.
Jack
Jack (aka Jack-Jack, Jackie Pete, and Cracker Jack) turned eight. For his birthday date with us he wanted to go to Farr's Fresh for ice cream. We talked him into dinner at Café Rio first, then went for ice cream.
At the store, afterwards, he chose a remote-control truck.
The following month he was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by his father, Cody.
Jack, we love you and couldn't be more proud of the great guy you are becoming.
The symphony delivered.
Thanks to Dave's work, we got to go to the Utah Symphony with a special guest pianist called Lang Lang. He was seriously the best pianist I have ever heard in my life. It was a great evening of music.
San Diego tag along
Dave had a business trip in San Diego and I got to join him.
Our hotel was in the Gaslamp District, right across the street from Petco Park.
We had dinner in the Gaslamp several times. The first night was with some of his co-workers.
We had lobster rolls.
If I had a nickel for every picture I have of us at Seaport village over the years, I'd probably have a couple of dollars.
The next day Dave had meetings. So I hopped on the ferry to Coronado.
Luckily I had my good friend, my selfie stick, with me. I mean, I have to prove I was on the beach, right?
You know the food is probably going to be good in a restaurant if, when you go in the restroom, there are live flower arrangements. And, yes, my fish tacos were delicious.
The next day, as Dave walked over to the convention center for more meetings, I took the San Diego Trolley to Old Town.
This picture is kind of a selfie stick fail.
I have always loved the sites of Old Town.
In Old Town I boarded a small "hop on, hop off" trolley tour that focused on San Diego Beaches. The first stop was Mount Soledad, overlooking La Jolla. The cross is a memorial to military veterans from the area.
The we went to the shore in La Jolla. I had to take a picture of the "beach cookies" in a bakery there. Check out the lone seal on a rock near La Jolla Shores in the bottom right photo.
The last stop on the beach dropped us off at Mission Beach.
I rented a bicycle and rode along the boardwalk to Pacific Beach where I bought some Dippin' Dots and enjoyed the view of the waves.
The trolley ended back at Old Town. I had a late lunch of tortilla soup at one of my favorite restaurants there.
That evening we went to a San Diego Padres game. It was their second to last game of the season. And they won, which is always nice when you are a fan.
So thank you, adorable husband, for letting me tag along, once again, on your business trip. I loved it.

Harvest Festival
Holly and Cody went to Maui. We watched their 4 kids part of the time they were gone. Cody's parents watched them the other half of the time.
We took them downtown to the Harvest Festival.
This face.
