Valentines Day in the sunshine.

We flew to Phoenix to see Steph, Jared and Shad on February 13th.  The sun was setting over the Great Salt Lake as we flew out of Ogden.

Early the next morning, we pulled Shad out of bed and headed out in the dark, at about 6:20 am to head to San Diego.

I had never driven this route before.  The desert scenery was interesting.

We pulled in to Old Town, San Diego about 11:20 am.  We immediately went to a Mexican restaurant there before the lunch crown arrived.

There were Mexican dancers putting on a little show.  Shad was mesmerized.

Then we took I-5 up to Del Mar, passing this favorite site on the way.

It could not have been a better beach day, with sunny skies and temps in the 80's.  It was Shad's first beach experience.

I can't think of a better place to spend this day than on a beach.

The next morning, after going to church in Del Mar, Dave and I took a little walk around the neighborhood near our hotel.  I always make him take a picture of me with Bougainvillea, my favorite flower.

Then we drove up to Oceanside.

We ate lunch here.  Heavenly.

I liked this shot I got of this pelican catching a fish someone threw up to him.

Shad did a little sand digging before we headed back to Phoenix.

Our last morning, back in Phoenix, I wanted to get a picture of their apartment complex since I'm not sure if we will get here again before they move to New York to continue Jared's residency.

On our way back to the airport we tried to find a park for Shad to play in for a bit.  This one was a lame excuse for a playground.  Shad just kept shaking his head and saying, "no swings, no slide . . "

We had a great visit with our Smedley family and are so thankful they have lived a little bit closer to Utah this past year.  Love them so much!

February Fun

We were still spoiled with amazingly warm weather.  Ash, Holls and I, along with Brigs, Logan, Mitt and Livie, had a picnic in the park one day.

The boat show with the Bauer's is always a good time.

My science class had a fun time making various towers with paper cups one day.

They got quite creative.

We celebrated Dave's 57th birthday at Tony's Pizza.  (Jack is his usual blur, haha.  I'm surprised Logan isn't in this one.  He and Jack are notorious for moving during a photo shoot) And, sorry, Jud, I accidentally cut off half of your face.  In my defense, it was pretty dark in there.

What a handsome birthday boy.

Briggy's Birthday

Brigham turned two years old.  Ashley made him a Daniel Tiger cake, which turned out perfect.

Brigham watches the Daniel Tiger show every day.  His birthday continued this theme.

The fallout after enjoying his cake.

Brigham is such a fun, adorable grandson.  He always tells me "Hi, Grandma!" when he first sees me and gives me a hug.  He also has very good manners and always says "thank you".  We love this kid so very, very much!

Welcome 2015

January is the time for the annual Hof German Festival in Ogden.

When you only get German food once a year, or so, it tastes extra special.

We celebrated Dad's 82nd birthday at ABC Chinese Restaurant.  Love this man.

January weather has been extremely mild, with temps quite often in the 50's.  The sunsets have been gorgeous, as you can tell from my pond picture.

January temperatures have been at all-time highs, and gas prices have been the lowest in many decades.

Holly and Ashley went to visit Stephanie in Arizona for a few days.  I watched Mitt and Livie one day while Holls was gone.

How cute is this one?

And this one, too!  What little sweeties they were for me.

Mitt is 8 months old and "on the move".  He crawls everywhere and pulls himself up to things already.
