Trip to Oregon, part 5 - Heading home

We saw this waterfall on our way back home.

We also stopped at the fish hatchery on the Columbia River.  These sturgeon were ginormous.  They were as big as sharks.  The largest one at the hatchery is 70 years old and weighs over 450 pounds.  It's hard to imagine these fish, with prehistoric links, are in the Columbia River.

We spent Monday night at a hotel in Baker, OR.  We stopped at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.

These oxen are real, stuffed (taxidermy) animals.  I had never seen a genuine ox, like the pioneers used, before.  Cool.

They had an entire display of life along the Oregon Trail.  There were so many stuffed animals it almost seemed like I was in Cabela's.

And here I am, standing in the wagon ruts of the authentic Oregon Trail.
I'm glad I got in the car afterwards and not a covered wagon.  Yep, I'm spoiled and pretty sure I would have died before I ever reached the Salt Lake Valley if I would have had to make the actual journey the Mormon pioneers made.  They used a large section of the Oregon Trail on their way to Utah.

We put over 2,000 miles on our car on this trip to Oregon.  It was a great trip, made better by all the wonderful relatives we were able to visit with.
