Well, it was the first Friday in October, so we hooked up the trailer to our truck and headed out for our annual Autumn overnighter.
We stopped at Maddox take-out for dinner.
We like to stay at Guinavah Campground in Logan Canyon. The river runs right through the campground.
As soon as it was light on Saturday morning we headed out for our little hikes. We always pass this amphitheater on our way to the trail.
There weren't as many colorful leaves as usual. But still, there were enough to make it extremely pleasant along the trail.
It seemed mossier and greener than usual.
Our first hike took us along the Logan River.
This is my favorite pic of the trip, I think.
I tried to zoom in on the Mallard and baby duck. Still not a very good shot.
Our second hike was new to us. The wind caves were so near our campground and we had never even hiked to them until this trip.
The early morning sun was streaming through these caves, formed by - you guessed it - wind. And rain, too, of course. Erosion at its finest.
We had to book it back down the mountainside to listen to LDS General Conference. We baked some cookies and had herbal tea while we listened on the radio.
Dave listens and munches.
Our trailer was in a very dense, wooded spot. Even though most of the leaves still hadn't changed, it was lovely, nonetheless. I opened up all of the blinds so we could experience our setting while still listening to conference.
We have made it a tradition to stop at Gossner's and get cheese on the way back home.
So once again, a quick, but very enjoyable little overnighter.
