Trip to San Diego - Day 3

Holly, Cody, their kids, Steph and Shad all went to LEGOLAND.  So Dave, Alex and I spent the day together.
First Alex treated us to the Scripps Aquarium.  He had gone there in 3rd grade on a field trip.  Dave and I had never been.  It was really cool to see.

It is located right between La Jolla and Torrey Pines.

I especially like all the unusual sea life.  This fish had a beak like a bird.

This was some sort of a sea dragon.

Another sea dragon.

We really enjoyed it there.

Then we drove over to La Jolla Cove.  One of the most picturesque places I know.

If you've ever been to there, you know you have to breathe through your mouth so you can't smell the stinky seals.

We ate lunch at a Korean place.  It was really good food.

Then we decided to go to Balboa Park.  I always force Dave to take a picture of me when I spot my favorite flower - bougainvillea.

I should have had someone stand next to these tree roots for perspective.  They are immense.

The last time  went to Balboa Park was when Alex went on a field trip there when he was in 3rd grade.  That day I was in charge of 6 little boys, so I didn't remember what amazing architecture is there.

We went inside the Museum of Fine Art.  They have a great collection of art from many of the masters.  We all really enjoyed it.
