Family Trip to California - Part 1, Palm Springs

About 15 years ago, while we still lived in San Diego, we bought a timeshare condo in Palm Springs.  Over the years, we have traded it several times - Florida, California coast, etc.  But we have never actually stayed there.  We decided it was time to use it for a family trip.  All of our children, except Andrew (in Korea) and Jared (in med school), and all of our grandchildren were able to come.  It was heavenly!

We drove on Friday night, Sept.30, as far as St. George.  We pulled into the hotel there at 1 am.

Here's Al-boy the next morning in front of the hotel:

Then we drove to Vegas to pick up Steph at the airport there.  She flew into Las Vegas from Michigan around 10:30 Saturday morning.

Gotta love the giant thermometer in Baker, CA.  It was cool there that day, only 96 degrees.

Our friends, the Lunts, told us of their tradition of eating at the Mad Greek in Baker on the way to Palm Springs.  So we decided to give it a try:

Loved it!

We got to our time share, the Palm Canyon Resort, late that afternoon.

Here is the view from our balcony:

Ash and Jud and their kids came later that evening.  Holly and Cody didn't come until Monday.  We had plenty of room for everyone.  Some of the nights we had two units, each had two bedrooms and a livingroom and fully equiped kitchen.

We had fun exploring downtown Palm Springs.

The lady in the top left of this photo told James (center of photo) to stick his feet in the fountain.

So he did!  Notice the lady, with a cigar in each hand.  Nasty.  Jud could do a great impression of her with her gravelly voice saying "stick your feet in. "  Bahaha. It cracks me up everytime I think about it.

Hogie (Logan) was wiped out.

They have stars with the names of famous people who have lived in Palm Springs on the sidewalks:

They also had a Cold Stone.  Yumm!
