Cali Trip - Part five

Oceanside.  One of our very favorite beaches.  I took a gazillion beach pictures on this trip, as I always usually do.  These are the pages I turn to in my scrapbooks/blogbooks on cold Utah winter days.  I really think I can smell the salty air and hear the sound of the waves as I'm doing so.

The pier.

This is why Oceanside ranks as one of our favorites.  We never fail to get an oreo milkshake when coming here.  Sometimes we get lunch or dinner, but always the shakes.

Lily was the lucky one at the beach that day.  First, she found a message in a bottle.

Then, she was the first to find a sand dollar.  I think the whole time we lived in San Diego I found one.  Lily found several.  So we all started looking and found probably close to a dozen or so.

Lily kept trying to throw the message in the bottle back out to sea. (After reading it, that is.)  It was written by someone named Mandi who wrote that she was putting all her worries in a bottle and letting them go.  She didn't write where she was from, though.

The water temperature was pretty cold.  The kids started out just wading, but ended up completely soaked.  Their little lips were quivering but they didn't seem to care.

I brought a kite.  There is always a breeze at the ocean and it lifted immediately into the air, which was fun for the kids.

This picture of Lily jumping the waves is one of my favorites.

Lily was covered with sand after lying in it to warm up.

Alex helped the kids make a sand castle.

Not the warmest day at the beach, but you would never know it by looking at these pictures.  The sky was blue, no May Gray, and absolutely wonderful.

Holly's fam came over to the resort but decided to head back home that night.  So we set the timer on the camera and got our only complete group picture of the trip.
