Blanche Lake and Donut Falls

Since Dave had Monday off, we wanted to go hiking. We had heard Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon was a nice hike. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory before heading up the canyon.
We accidently turned in at the wrong spot and decided to hike to Blanche Lake since we happened to be there. We had never heard of it. It took us two hours, straight up the mountainside to get to the lake. But what a gorgeous hike it was. We had already gone running that morning. So between the two hikes and the running, we logged 12 miles. Tiring.

We can't figure out why this is called Donut Falls. Nothing even looked like a donut. At least it was an easy little hike after our grueling 7 mile ordeal to the lake and back. Our legs felt like jello.

What a good way to wear off those Cheesecake Factory calories. I looks beautiful.

There used to be a donut where water fell through an opening that has now collapsed into the pile of rocks you see in this picture. We have taken that hike lots of times.
