We stayed in the Dongdaemun area of Seoul. This was Alex's third area when he served his mission here.
These Grandmas, which is what they are called all over Korea, are everywhere we went on this trip. They are very hard working older women who sell everything imaginable on the sides of the streets.
The main purpose of the entire trip: picking up Andrew. He took a three hour train from Busan to Seoul. We got to see him, for the first time in two years, at the train station in Seoul.
He looked great! I just wanted to keep hugging him.
These are the eight missionaries who were being released from the Busan mission and rode the train together up to Seoul. Andrew had nothing but good to say about each of them.
One of Andrew's former companion's who now lives in Seoul met us for a quick lunch, before we headed over to the temple.
As we were walking up one of the alley-type streets to the temple I noticed that there are massive amounts of telephone and power lines strewn everywhere, on most every street, haphazardly from building to building. Interesting.
After walking along several side streets we passed through a gate and up a steep driveway and this beautiful temple is at the top. You would never know it is in the middle of a busy city.
It is a tradition that all of the missionaries who are leaving meet at the temple and attend an endowment session together before departing. We felt very blessed to be included.
A little slice of heaven on earth.
